Privacy policy

This policy explains what happens with your data on Potato Flute (potatoflute.com). In short: the camera and the microphone are used only on your device, and we collect as little as we can.

Who is responsible

Head Arcade (Gil Rimon), Moinho Do Bispo, 8670-052 Aljezur, Portugal. Email: contact@headarcade.com.

Camera and microphone

The games use your camera and microphone to see your hands, face or body and to hear your notes. This happens entirely inside your browser, on your device. Pictures, video and sound are never recorded, stored or sent to us or anyone else.

Anonymous statistics

To improve the games we count which pages and games are opened, how long games are played, how well devices run them, and errors. For this we use PostHog (servers in the USA), with a random identifier kept in your browser, no advertising and no tracking across other websites.

Visitors from Europe (the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland) are asked first, and nothing is counted unless they accept. You can change your answer at any time with “Privacy choices” at the bottom of every page.

Stored in your browser

Your ocarina (its kind, size and look), your progress, your language and your privacy answer are kept in your browser's storage, on your device. You can delete them in your browser's settings.

Accounts

An account is optional: playing without one works the same. If you sign in (with a code we email you, sent with Resend, USA), we keep your email address, your Potato Flute stars, your language, and the dates you signed up and confirmed you're 16 or older, so your stars follow you to any screen. Signing in keeps a cookie (rh_session, and rh_in to show you're signed in) for up to 180 days. The account is stored with Cloudflare, in the European Union; it's the same account as on Recorder Hero. You can delete your Potato Flute progress on your account page, and the whole account by writing to us.

Progress reports

If you add children or students to your account, we keep the names (or nicknames) and ages you give. When a signed-in child or student practices, we keep what the reports need: which lessons and songs were started and finished, their stars, how many notes were right, the notes they got stuck on, and the minutes. Never a sound or a picture. This is kept for 13 months, and deleted with the child or student, or with your account.

If you ask for progress reports by email (with the Family Pack), the few lines of advice in them are written by Google's Gemini. Gemini receives only practice numbers and note names, never a name or an email address. The reports are sent to your email and to any other addresses you add.

Feedback form

When you send the feedback form, we keep what you wrote, your ocarina, the page's language and your country, to make Potato Flute better. Your email address only if you give it, and only to answer you.

Payments

When you buy a song pack, the payment goes through Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ireland), which handles your card and billing details and, as merchant of record, the receipt and taxes. We never see your card. We keep which account owns which song pack, when it was bought, and Stripe's reference for the payment, to give you the song pack and to answer questions. Stripe processes your data under its own privacy policy (stripe.com/privacy).

Hosting

The websites run on Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as your IP address and browser to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse.

Children

Children can play without an account and without giving any personal information. The email forms are for grown-ups only.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete your data, object to its use, or withdraw your consent at any time: write to contact@headarcade.com. You can also complain to a data protection authority; in Portugal, the CNPD (www.cnpd.pt).
