low C
Thumb hole covered, holes 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 covered
How to play it
- Low C is the lowest note on the soprano recorder: every hole is closed, including both halves of the double holes at the bottom.
- From low D, add your right little finger on hole 7, and blow more gently than for any other note.
Why it squeaks or sounds wrong
- If it squeaks or sounds high, a hole is leaking: usually hole 7 (the little finger) or hole 6.
- If it sounds weak and airy, blow even more softly and slowly, like a sigh.
Free, in your browser: it listens as you play and shows which finger to fix.
